VC Tutorial

The tutorial I chose taught me how to make a graffiti animation in After Effects. I started by typing my name using the text tool, shown in the picture to the left, and then animated it.  The first step to animating it was to draw over the letters using the pen tool, and then used the stroke tool to make it appear like I am writing the letters.

To finish animating it I turned the stroke effect end down all the way, which put a Keyframe in the beginning of the animation. I went a couple seconds in and pushed end all they way back up, this put another keyframe in and I had my animation. I also added a wall and a floor, and used the rotation tool to make them seem 3D.

Next, I added a light to make the wall and floor seem even more 3D. The light added a lot of depth to the animation and made it look grungy.

The final step was to add paint blotches so that it looked like someone was spilling paint on the wall, like a graffiti artist would. The hardest part of the tutorial was getting the walls, floor, and letters to move at the same time.

I can use this project in the future for a video, animation, or a graphic design project. Overall I really enjoyed this tutorial and would recommend it. I do like my final product. I wish that there had been more color added into the tutorial so it would look more lively and fun. I changed a couple things about the tutorial. The first was the color of the paint. I changed this because in the tutorial it looks more like blood than paint. The second thing was the wall and floor.

Kerning is when you adjust characters spacing based on a proportional point. While kerning you usually place the characters closer together than normal.

Movie Poster

My movie was the Parent Trap. The movie is about Two long lost twins who trade places to try to get their parents back together. My poster resembles one of Saul's posters because of the cartoon look of them. However my poster has more colors than the posters by Saul Bass and is not quite as simple. Saul bass made very extraordinary posters that were famous for their simplicity. The picture below is one of the more simple ones he did.
